The Damascus City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at Damascus City Hall, 19920 SE Highway 212. The meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. You may view council meetings on cable television on Thursdays at 10:00 AM and 7:30 PM, and on Sundays at 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM. Comcast subscribers tune in to Channel 23; Clear Creek subscribers tune in to Channel 18. You may also stop by City Hall to check out a DVD of the meetings.
The Mayor and City Councilors are elected by a City wide vote. The Mayor and City Council members serve without pay as volunteers. The Mayor serves a two-year term and councilors serve four-year terms. They set City policy and make decisions regarding ordinances and resolutions, authorize contracts, and adopt the City’s annual budget. The Mayor and City Council also appoint the City Manager, Municipal Court Judge, and many citizens to serve on advisory committees. The Mayor and City Council work along with the City staff to provide the highest quality service to the citizens of Damascus.
